These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of our website at https://www.rejoyceliteraryediting.com (the “Site”) and any services offered by us, including editing, consulting, or any related literary services (“Services”).
By accessing our Site or engaging our Services, you agree to these Terms in full. If you do not agree, please do not use our Site or Services.
1. Scope of Services
ReJoyce Literary Editing Co. provides editorial services, including but not limited to: manuscript editing, copyediting, proofreading, developmental editing, and writing consultation. The specifics of each engagement will be outlined in a proposal, email agreement, or service contract.
We reserve the right to refuse or discontinue services at our discretion, especially in cases of offensive, plagiarized, or unlawful content.
2. Client Responsibilities
As a client, you agree to:
Provide accurate information and materials required to complete your project
Ensure you have the legal right to submit the content provided
Respond to communications in a timely manner to support project completion
Review and approve work within the agreed timeframe
Failure to communicate or submit materials in a timely manner may delay project delivery or result in cancellation.
3. Payment Terms
Payment terms will be communicated prior to the start of each project. We typically require either:
Full payment upfront for smaller projects, or
A 25% deposit for larger engagements, with the balance due upon delivery
Invoices are payable via accepted online methods (e.g., Venmo, PayPal). Late payments may incur additional fees or result in suspension or cancellation of services.
All payments are final unless otherwise stated in writing. Refunds are issued solely at our discretion or via contractual agreement..
4. Turnaround Time & Revisions
Turnaround time will be confirmed before the start of your project and is dependent on our current schedule and the length/complexity of your material.
Reasonable revisions are included, provided they fall within the original scope of the project. Major revisions or rewrites requested after delivery may incur additional charges.
5. Intellectual Property
You retain all rights to your original work. We do not claim ownership over your manuscript or content.
We retain rights to any original editorial materials we create (e.g., editorial reports, style sheets) unless otherwise agreed.
You grant us a limited license to use your content strictly for the purpose of providing editing services.
6. Confidentiality
All client materials and communications are treated as confidential. We do not share your work or personal information without your written consent, except as required by law.
If desired, we are happy to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA).
7. No Guarantees
While we strive to provide high-quality, professional editing services, we do not guarantee:
Publication or acceptance by publishers or agents
Increased sales or readership
Academic success or grading outcomes
All editing is subject to human error. Final responsibility for the accuracy and appropriateness of the content rests with the client.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, ReJoyce Literary Editing Co. shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of our Services or Site.
Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid by you for the specific service provided.
9. Termination
We reserve the right to terminate or refuse service at any time, for any reason, including but not limited to violation of these Terms or submission of inappropriate content.
10. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Your continued use of our Site or Services after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
11. Governing Law
These Terms and any disputes arising under them shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
Any disputes shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If unresolved, disputes shall be submitted to binding arbitration in Los Angeles County, California, in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association.
